Genesis Program

The Genesis Program empowers students to bring their innovations to fruition by supporting great ideas with early stage capital awards between $500 and $5,000. These awards afford students at the University of Texas at Austin the opportunity to transform those great ideas into even greater realities.

Founded by the Longhorn Engineering Advisory Delegation (LEAD), the Genesis Program provides UT Austin students with mentors, investment experience, and early stage funding. Students on the leadership team participate alongside mentors in activities tailored for early stage innovations and help source, screen, select, and support awardees. Funding applicants can be student innovators of any degree level from any college. Applications are assessed for product, market, and execution viability, among other factors. Capital distributions are 100% philanthropic and no equity is retained. Amounts will vary per application and assessment.

Eligible applicants are current University of Texas at Austin students.  The Genesis Program targets business makers and hardware creators alike.

Made up of UT Austin students and alumni, the leadership team works diligently to assist applicants with their ventures and to determine if applicants are fit to take on funding.
